Paris Saint-Germain won 2-1 (3-1 on aggregate) against Arsenal (PSG/Arsenal video highlights) this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes as part of the return semi-finals of the Champions League 2024-2025 (final on May 31). After the victory, Parisian full-back Nuno Mendes (22) spoke in the mixed zone.
Nuno Mendes “you have to win it.”
“We know we can make history. But we’ve got one match to go and we know what we have to do. We need to stay focused, stay humble. We’re going there to win. Today, we knew we had a big match ahead of us, here with our fans. I think we deserved to go to the final now, and we have to win it.
Donnarumma?
He’s a great goalkeeper. In terms of size and talent, with some great saves. He was there for us today. He was good today and I hope that continues into the next game.”
Like all Parisians, Nuno Mendes was delighted to have qualified for the final. However, he is not forgetting to think about what lies ahead, with the idea that there is still a lot to achieve. Reaching the final is great, but it’s not enough. Even if it’s impossible to be sure of winning it.
We need to savour the moment, get some rest and then work really hard to prepare ourselves as well as possible. And let’s not forget the Coupe de France final against Reims on May 24.
PSG will undoubtedly be able to count on the excellent Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 26-year-old goalkeeper has had to endure months of criticism, but above all has repeated his great performances in this Champions League final. The players know that their team-mate is important.
