Paris Saint-Germain played the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Aston Villa on Wednesday evening. And it was a determined Red and Blue team that took to the pitch at the Parc des Princes. After a match largely dominated by the players from the capital club, Luis Enrique’s players beat the English side 3-1 (see video highlights PSG/Aston Villa). Lucas Digne, Aston Villa’s French defender, spoke to Canal+ Sports about the defeat:
Lucas Digne: “Désiré’s shot was incredible”.
How would you explain your match? You played low and didn’t go looking for them.
That was our game, that was our plan. We managed to open the scoring, which was the hardest thing to do. We’re up against a great team too, you have to admit. They had their moments, like Désiré’s shot. It waas incredible. It’s up to us to do the job in the return leg, and we’ll certainly have to show a bit more of ourselves. It’s still possible and we’re going to do everything we can.
What impresses you about PSG?
They’re a very good team, very well organized both offensively and defensively. It’s a system of play that’s different from what I knew a few years ago. It works very well, and now it’s up to us to find the gaps.
