Paris Saint-Germain kicked off their preparations for the Club World Cup in Irvine, California. Marquinhos (30), Lee Kang-in (24), Lucas Beraldo (21), Willian Pacho (23) and Gianluigi Donnarumma (26) took part in the first training session, while Adrien Chantegrelet (Le Parisien) shared exclusive images of the session. Luis Enrique’s team thus embark on their global challenge in a studious and highly supervised atmosphere. And with 2 players not yet in the squad.
“First training session for Marquinhos, Lee, Beraldo, Pacho and Donnarumma in Irvine. Bradley Barcola trains separately, while Ousmane Dembélé remains in the gym for the start of the session.”
After the euphoria and intensity of the Champions League, this first training session in Irvine marks a turning point for Paris Saint-Germain. The squad must quickly reinvent itself physically and mentally, as it moves from a European summit to a new global challenge.
The challenge is twofold: to regain freshness after a trying season, and to recreate a collective dynamic at a time when some of the key players have only just returned from vacation or injury. It is also an opportunity for Luis Enrique and his staff to gauge each player’s fitness and lay the foundations for a new work cycle.
The closed-door sessions, far from the pressure of Paris, allow the squad to come together, integrate the newcomers and prepare for a competition where every detail will count. This transition, between recovery and ramping up, will be decisive if we are to tackle the Club World Cup with ambition and cohesion.
Today’s good news is that Gabriel Moscardo (19-year-old midfielder) was able to work with the group after a separate session. Only 2 players are missing after the return of the last internationals: Bradley Barcola (22-year-old striker) and Ousmane Dembélé (28-year-old striker). The former is closer to a return.
