As part of Matchday 4 of the UEFA Champions League group stage, Paris Saint-Germain hosted Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes this Tuesday, suffering a 1–2 defea. Speaking to PSG TV after the match, Luis Enrique, the Parisian coach, reflected on the loss.
Luis Enrique: “We have to keep knowing how to play these matches.”
“We have to keep going — it’s normal. I think in the first half, we got what we deserved because they played better than us. We made several mistakes, and when you make gifts to a team like that, it’s normal to lose the game.
In the second half, things changed because we had one more player. I think we did our job well in that second half and created chances to equalize, but today just wasn’t our day. We know our Champions League schedule is very tough. We’ve already had three wins, which was fantastic, and we have to keep valuing that and keep knowing how to play these kinds of matches.”
This result extends Bayern Munich’s incredible run — 16 wins in 16 matches — highlighting their current dominance. On the other hand, PSG seem to be paying the price for last season’s exhausting campaign. Injuries are piling up, and those still available look physically and mentally drained.
Still, this defeat carries little real consequence. It’s only November, and the true test of the season will come in March, when the knockout rounds begin. Qualification remains the short-term goal, but PSG’s experience has taught them that the truth of November is worlds away from that of spring. The main concern now lies with the team’s health — especially Achraf Hakimi, who appeared to suffer a serious injury late in the game.
