Marquinhos, 31, spoke to Canal+ after the 1-2 defeat against Bayern Munich on Tuesday in the fourth round of the Champions League group stage. He discussed Bayern’s superiority.
Marquinhos: “It’s always tough to lose at home.”
Was it the best team that won?
It’s always tough to lose at home. Here, you have to win. You have to play better. I think we faced a team that was very well organized. I think in the first half, they were better than us in terms of physicality and winning the ball high up the pitch. We couldn’t get our game going. There were a lot of players who weren’t at their best, and that’s very difficult. I’m one of those players.
There are things to take away from this match. The team still has ambition, and we always want to beat our opponents, and at home, we need to do better. Bayern Munich were superior to us, and the red card was another factor. In the second half, we were better, but the red card changed the context of the match. Today is a disappointment because we wanted to win, and at home, you can’t afford to drop any points.
Did you see the injured players?
Yes, I saw them. We shouldn’t jump to conclusions yet; we need to see the results of the tests. We’ll give you more information later.
