This week, the CIES Football Observatory unveiled its latest study of player values worldwide. Nine Paris Saint-Germain players feature in the top 100: Ilya Zabarnyi (€69.7 million), Willian Pacho (€70.6 million), Vitinha (€84.8 million), Nuno Mendes (€86.5 million), Warren Zaïre-Emery (€86.9 million), Bradley Barcola (€90.2 million), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€91 million), João Neves (€130.6 million), and Désiré Doué (€134.6 million). The latter two even make the top 10.

Such a study should be interpreted with caution, even if it provides insight into players in form or their estimated potential. For example, Florian Wirtz is ranked 6th despite significant difficulties at the start of the season at Liverpool. What exactly are the criteria used? Future prospects, contract length, and, of course, performance.
But it’s surprising to see that Achraf Hakimi and Ousmane Dembélé have dropped out of the top 100 since the last estimate in June. Especially Hakimi, who is still in top form. On the Paris side, Lucas Beraldo has also fallen out. Which is less surprising.
Nevertheless, we can note that PSG is, quite logically, well represented. It’s a very high-level squad, with some players who have progressed significantly in recent months. Doué, Neves, Barcola, Pacho, Nuno Mendes, and Kvaratskhelia are thus valued at a higher price than they were bought for. An interesting sign for the work done during recruitment and on a daily basis.
Even if there are many debatable elements, of course.
