This Saturday, as part of Matchday 10 of Ligue 1 2024-2025, Paris Saint-Germain took on Lens at the Parc des Princes. After a match in which the Rouge et Bleu dominated with minimal effectiveness, they won by the slimmest of margins 1-0 (PSG/Lens video summary). Here are our scores for the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Matvey Safonov (5) – Nothing negative to report in the first half. He stretched out a lot, but wasn’t troubled in goal. His footwork was not always convincing.
Defenders –
Achraf Hakimi (6) – We saw him put some energy into certain races, but he also showed signs of fatigue at times. He’s still very dangerous for the opposition.
Marquinhos (6.5) – A good first half and a good match overall.
Willian Pacho (5.5) – Very solid defensively, he was nevertheless limited in the build-up play. He slows down the game when it comes to playing forward.
Nuno Mendes (5) – Very much confined to his role as 3rd defender, he didn’t shine much in the first half or throughout the match.
Midfielder –
Fabian Ruiz (4) – He had some good inspirations in the first half, but the vast majority of what he was able to do was pretty average. Replaced by Warren Zaïre-Emery in the 71st minute.
Vitinha (6) – He’s very present and gets on well with Neves, but he lacks the attacking flair he had last year with his shots and leadership in the opposition’s final third.
Joao Neves (6) – What a display of energy and technique. He played a great half.
Attacking –
Ousmane Dembélé (6) – A goalscorer and a dangerous player, he also had his moments, as is often the case. He remains an indispensable weapon for this PSG team. Replaced by Lee Kang-in in the 60th minute.
Marco Asensio (4) – His movements are good, his passes are good, but he didn’t score and he had chances. We expected more from him in the first half and especially in the second. Replaced by Désiré Doué in the 71st minute.
Bradley Barcola (6) – His assist for Dembélé’s goal hurt Lens, but he must never leave the first half without scoring. He’s a constant threat to the opposition.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (6) – Instead of scoring goals, his team outrageously dominates their opponents, even those in the top 5. Admittedly, the picture would be different if his forwards weren’t missing so many chances.
