This Monday, during the 8th matchday of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain faced Olympique Lyonnais at the Parc des Princes. In a match where the Rouge et Bleu dominated—despite the challenges posed by the visitors—they secured a 2-0 victory, with goals coming from substitutes Senny Mayulu and Mika Godts. Here are our player ratings for the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Matvey Safonov (7) – He wasn’t called upon very often, but he did have to make a few important saves. His distribution was also a plus, helping the team set the tempo.
Defenders –
Achraf Hakimi (7) – He made an impressive number of runs, both offensively and defensively. The PSG full-back played a key role in helping his side create scoring opportunities.
Ilya Zabarnyi (7) – Rarely tested, he remained solid throughout and looked comfortable on the ball.
Willian Pacho (7) – A rock at the back, particularly when it came to covering the space in behind against Lyon’s transitions.
Warren Zaïre-Emery (6) – He carried out his defensive duties well and appears to be gradually adapting to the left-back position. Replaced in the 65th minute by Lucas Hernandez.
Midfielders –
Vitinha (8) – A leader in midfield; he distributes the ball effectively, whether through short or long passing, all while remaining active in winning back possession.
João Neves (6.5) – Put in a massive shift in terms of ball recovery, an area where he continues to be invaluable. He made a few strong forays forward, including an acrobatic sequence that nearly resulted in a spectacular goal. Replaced in the 55th minute by Mika Godts.
Fabian Ruiz (8) – Once again impressive for his intelligence and technical precision, he played a key role in creating chances against the Lyon defensive block and came close to making a decisive contribution.
Forwards –
Maghnes Akliouche (7) – Very active, he displayed great technical ease in service of the Parisian side’s play. All that was missing was a decisive moment. Replaced in the 80th minute by Quentin Ndjantou.
Ferran Torres (6) – Highly available and intelligent, he helped PSG create dangerous situations. However, he should have been more clinical in finishing his chances. Replaced in the 65th minute by Senny Mayulu.
Désiré Doué (7) – He frequently took the initiative, all while keeping the team’s collective play in mind. This allowed PSG to pose a threat, despite Lyon’s deeply compact defensive setup. Replaced in the 80th minute by Lucas Beraldo.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (8) – PSG dominates, displays great collective strength, and finds solutions despite absences or changes.
