On Monday at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain secured a 2-0 victory over Olympique Lyonnais during the 8th matchday of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. As we now do after every match, we asked our readers to vote for the best PSG player of the game—and Matvey Safonov (the 27-year-old goalkeeper) came out on top.

It was a very close result for Safonov, who proved decisive with several fine saves. Overall, PSG’s performance was promising, though perhaps not as impressive as they are capable of being—largely due to a lack of clinical finishing.
Nevertheless, the team showed good rhythm and creativity. Three attacking players rounded out the top three, with a tie between 21-year-old forward Mika Godts—who scored his first goal—and the match’s primary playmakers, 21-year-old Désiré Doué and 24-year-old Maghnes Akliouche (both of whom play as midfielders/forwards). The maestro Vitinha (a 26-year-old midfielder) was also close to making the list.
In any case, thank you for your votes. As a reminder, the top three players from each match are used to help determine the “Player of the Month.”
