Ousmane Dembélé, Paris Saint-Germain’s 27-year-old striker, spoke to DAZN after the 1-0 win over Monaco at Stadium 974 on Sunday in the Trophée des Champions 2024. He talked about the difficult but successful return match, scoring and what’s next.
“Another title, it’s my 4th. I’m happy.”
A perfect evening for you and for PSG?
Yes, of course, after having had 10 days off, but the coach still gave us 10 days and that did us good. It was difficult to come back, but we played a good game. We missed a few chances on both sides that could have gone either way. We’re happy and I’m happy to have scored at the end of the day. Another title, it’s my 4th. I’m delighted.
Were there any doubts?
Yes, of course, Monaco are a good team. As we’ve seen in Ligue 1, anything can happen: we were ahead when they came back, and at one point they were ahead on goal. Then we came back and anything can happen against this team. We’re happy to have a trophy and to win this match.
Dembélé “Everyone scores goals and everyone has chances.”
Are you the PSG goalscorer?
No, no, everyone scores goals and everyone has chances. We’re trying to be efficient and score as many goals as possible, and this second half of the season is going to be exciting for us. We’re starting with a trophy and we’re optimistic about the rest.
Is it important to have confidence?
We’re thinking about the Champions League, but every game is important here at Paris Saint-Germain. We’re going to stay focused and there’s a game against Manchester City that’s going to be important, but in the back of our minds we’re going to try to come and win at the Parc des Princes.
