The Champions Trophy was played this Sunday evening at Stadium 974 in Doha. The match between Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco was dominated by the Rouge et Bleu. It was only in stoppage time, when everyone was expecting a penalty shoot-out, that Ousmane Dembélé’s Parisians made the nets tremble to claim the trophy (1-0, see PSG/Monaco highlights). Achraf Hakimi, defender for the club de la capitale, spoke to DAZN about the victory:

Hakimi: “It’s good to start the year with a trophy”.

What are your impressions of the team’s performance tonight?

It’s good to start the year with a trophy. I think we put in a good performance, creating a lot of chances in the first half. But also in the second half. We didn’t score, but fortunately we did in the last minute. We brought the trophy home.

How do you feel the group is shaping up for the next few matches?

I think this win has given the team more confidence for the second half of the season. As I said, it’s good to start the year with this confidence boost. I think we need to keep working and we’re still not at 100% after the vacations. Now we’ve got a lot of games coming up and we’ve got to keep on going, getting ready for Sunday and for all the games to come.
