This Friday evening, Paris Saint-Germain won 4-1 (PSG/Monaco video highlights) against AS Monaco on Matchday 21 of Ligue 1 2024-2025 at the Parc des Princes. Here are the highlights and lowlights of the victory.
Tops –
Neves on top / Vitinha maestro
The two Portuguese players work wonders. Vitinha sets the tempo, Neves harasses. Both players are in top form, they hurt, they’re technically correct and, of course, two players of this calibre, you don’t see that in every team.
Dembélé doubled / Kvara first
When Kvaratskhelia lets loose, he can let it all go. It’ll do him good, but it’s not the only good thing he did on Friday evening. For Dembélé, it’s been one match after another, with him scoring and scoring again. When Paris is this clinical in front of goal, the opposition can only see the damage. Every player in this team brings something to the table, and over the course of a match, it’s exceptional. You have to savor it.
Désiré Doué
How could I not top Doué? He dribbled, he succeeded almost all the time, he had chances. His attacking passes are of the highest quality. He’s reminiscent of Neymar, with some useless gestures, but they’re beautiful, successful gestures. He’s inspired by his idol, but Doué is an excellent player and every time now, he’s playing great matches.
Flops –
Another goal conceded
Donnarumma anticipates the cross and takes a goal at the near post. He’s not “totally” responsible, he’s guilty of covering a cross that didn’t come. That said, the shot was so close, it was hard to stop. As for the rest, PSG still need to improve their defensive situations, particularly in the first half.
The competition
Monaco were supposed to be the number 2 team in Ligue 1, but a defeat at the Champions Trophy, 9 goals conceded, 16 points behind and Ligue 1 has taken a hit behind the helmet. PSG are really very strong at the moment, and we mustn’t blame everything on their opponents’ weaknesses, but it has to be said that, for the moment, they have no rivals.
