Lucas Chevalier, the 24-year-old Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper, was on the receiving end of a very dangerous tackle from Lamine Camara (21-year-old midfielder) on Saturday during the defeat against AS Monaco. L’Equipe provided an update on the goalkeeper’s condition after the match.
“According to initial observations, Lucas Chevalier, who left the Stade Louis II limping, will not require any further tests. The medical staff will ask him to receive treatment in the coming days, and the PSG goalkeeper should be available for the home game against Rennes.”
This is excellent, and surprising, news. Chevalier’s ankle twisted slightly during the tackle, but he is fortunate to have considerable flexibility. Nothing gave way, and he ultimately escaped with just a hard knock. It’s painful, but the injury should heal quickly.
A small consolation, considering the nature of the tackle could have been much more serious. Let’s hope his recovery continues. And that the refereeing will be more consistent, in order to avoid such actions.
