OGC Nice achieved the feat of toppling Paris Saint-Germain’s record of invicibility on Friday evening on Matchday 31 of Ligue 1. Despite a match heavily dominated by the Red and Blues, who came up against Marcin Bulka, author of an exceptional performance, it was the Aiglons who pulled off the heist, winning 1-3 with just 3 shots on target (video highlights PSG/Nice). The match’s MVP Marcin Bulka spoke to DAZN about his numerous saves and this heavy victory:
Bulka: “It was important and I took it on board”
Did you have to repeat your great performance against your former club?
Yes, I had to. It was important and I took responsibility for it. It’s a pleasure because nobody has ever won here in the league. We’re the first and last year we did it too. We know that you have to suffer here to get a good result and I think we did it well. Without my saves, there are also a lot of saves from my defenders. The front line. The goals also helped us a lot, God gave us a second life in the match. There were a lot of shots, a lot of chances, and we know that PSG dominate.
What’s your favorite save?
I think Vitinha’s. There were several that I really liked, but the most important thing is to be effective. I was able to help the team and in the end we held on to the result. We only conceded one goal, but they had a lot of chances. I’m really pleased.
“A feeling of revenge? Yes, of course.”
Is it easier to perform in a game like that when you know you’re going to be called upon?
I think it depends on the goalkeepers too. For me, when you make three saves at the start of a match as a keeper, it makes the game easier. Even before the game, I concentrated hard because I was sure there were going to be a lot of chances. They brought out the typical team, so to speak. I knew they weren’t going to let up in preparation for Tuesday’s game. In the end, congratulations to the whole team, because when we came out of the locker room in the second half, it had been a long time since we’d scored so quickly. We’re usually the ones who suffer most of the time, but today I was positively surprised.
Do you have a feeling of revenge against PSG?
Of course I do. After that, I play my game like any other. For me, it’s special because I spent a year here. I scored a small part of my career here. I made my first professional debut here. I also wish PSG all the best for Tuesday. It’s going to be a great match. I wish them all the best.
