Paris Saint-Germain lost 1-3 to Nice (video highlights PSG/Nice) this Friday at the Parc des Princes as part of the 31st day of Ligue 1 2024-2025. Vitinha, the 25-year-old midfielder, spoke to PSG TV on the sidelines about the defeat.
Vitinha “Out of the few chances they created, they scored”
“The feeling I have is that they were effective, they were realistic. They scored from the few chances they created. Of course we can do things better, our game wasn’t perfect, but I think the main cause is this: efficiency, and the fact that they were realistic while we weren’t.
There was also a great performance from Bulka, Nice’s goalkeeper. I think that’s what it was all about. We’re disappointed because we wanted to win and keep up the momentum, to remain unbeaten in the league.”
Vitinha “what we’ve done so far is incredible and we need to keep going”
“Unfortunately, we haven’t, but now we need to focus on the Arsenal game. I don’t think we need to be worried or alarmist. Of course, we have to look at what we didn’t do well, and prepare as well as we can for the match, but we have to remember that we’re a great team.
We have a lot of quality, a lot of ability, and that’s what we need to focus on. Because what we’ve done so far is incredible, and we’ve got to keep going by focusing 100% on the Arsenal game.”
Unfortunately, having reached the end of the season, it’s difficult to make further progress towards this unbeaten record. Firstly, because the remaining deadlines, such as this Champions League semi-final against Arsenal, are more important than a record.
And secondly, once you’ve clinched another Franc title, it’s very difficult to face teams who have everything to win and everything to lose, when you’re no longer obliged to deliver results.
PSG’s performance was generally good on Friday. But they perhaps lacked the cutting edge to finish off some of the chances they created and win the match. This, of course, does not alter the remaining objectives.
PSG have six games to play, perhaps seven if they qualify for the Champions League final. And at the end of the season, it’s clear that you have to be able to spare no effort if you want to be 100% fit for the big matches that could make history with a coveted title.
