In recent days, transfer rumors have been rife surrounding Vitinha and João Neves, the 26-year-old and 21-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielders. They were indeed mentioned as possible targets for Real Madrid’s famous €150 million offer, promised by president Florentino Pérez. Ultimately, this attempt was made for Julian Alvarez (the 26-year-old Atlético Madrid and Argentina striker) and rejected. Regarding the Portuguese players at PSG, their agent, Jorge Mendes, responded to journalist Fabrizio Romano:
“They will continue collecting trophies.”
The message is clear: Vitinha and Neves will not be leaving PSG. Quite simply, they are happy in Paris, both in the city and at the club, with the opportunity to play the kind of football they love and that wins trophies. Including the Champions League, even if you can never be sure about the next one. There is a big project in place, where they are important.
There is no reason for them to want to leave or be forced out. But it’s always appreciated when an agent confirms what seems logical, because we know that football can sometimes be surprising.
