Lucas Chevalier, the 24-year-old French national team goalkeeper, arrived at Paris Saint-Germain from Lille during the 2025 summer transfer window to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma. However, he has yet to establish himself as the first-choice goalkeeper and has seen Matvey Safonov (27) take over the starting position. Doubts are therefore arising about his future. Journalists Fabrizio Romano and Sébastien Vidal now claim that Juventus are interested, while the Emiliano Martinez (33, Aston Villa) deal is struggling to be finalized.
Sébastien Vidal:
Juventus are considering Lucas Chevalier.
Faced with the difficulties encountered in the Emiliano Martinez deal, the Turin club is exploring other options and has inquired about the French goalkeeper from PSG, whose playing time has significantly decreased in recent months.
Romeo Agresti:
“🧤For this position, the name Juve is working on most is Dibu Martinez. They are also exploring options for Oblak (whose salary is very high) and Chevalier.”
It’s not impossible, as Chevalier is a very good goalkeeper whom some clubs might hope to revive after his difficulties adapting at PSG. However, we remain very cautious as this is just a rumor. It could also be originating from Juventus to put pressure on Aston Villa in the negotiations for Martinez. This is part of the media game, and some journalists are also reporting progress towards the Argentinian signing with Juventus.
Moreover, it’s possible that Chevalier is actually on Aston Villa’s radar to replace Martinez. It’s a signing that would make a lot of sense. However, nothing is set in stone. Let’s not forget that players are sometimes sent packing too quickly, while others simply manage to turn things around and establish themselves over time.
