Vitinha, the 26-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, spoke to Ligue1+ following PSG’s 1-0 defeat to Lens (Lens vs. PSG video highlights) this Sunday at the Stade Bollaert in the 2026 Trophée des Champions.
Vitinha: “We are proud of what we did and of our performance in the match.”
You were in control of the match, but it felt like something was missing—clinical finishing. What was it that you lacked?
I think we played a very good match; the first half was excellent. The first time—or almost the first time—they entered the box, they got a lucky goal, and then there was the red card, which actually helped us control the game even more. We created chances but lacked efficiency. We didn’t score, and it’s tough when things go that way. It’s a sad evening.
Is it hard to take?
As you said, it’s tough; it is a trophy, after all, and we want to win everything. It’s a shame; it’s a sad day for us. We are proud of what we did and of our performance. We just needed to score. We aren’t happy because we lost, but that’s how it is.
