This Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain hosts FC Barcelona for the third matchday of the Champions League group stage. Speaking to beIN SPORTS, 26-year-old PSG midfielder Vitinha discussed the key to this high-stakes encounter.
Vitinha: “I think we have the potential to take control.”
Will tomorrow’s match come down to a battle for possession?
“I think it’s inevitable that both teams—us and Barça—will have less possession than usual. We want to have the ball and control the game, and they do too. But there’s only one ball. That said, I believe we have the potential to take control during certain phases of the match.”
Since 2024—notably following those two Champions League ties—do you feel that PSG now possesses greater certainty when facing these kinds of big matches?
“Yes, to be honest, I’d say so. That’s the general perception from the outside, too. Even before we won those two Champions League ties during our first year under Luis Enrique, we already had that sense of certainty. I think we’ve felt this way for a long time. But when you start winning, things begin to go your way, and that only reinforces that feeling.”
