This Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain hosted Stade de Reims as part of the 19th day of Ligue 1 (1-1 video highlights PSG/Reims). On the sidelines of the match, 28-year-old PSG full-back Lucas Hernandez spoke to Free Foot about the result, and his return to competitive action a few weeks ago after a lengthy injury.
Hernandez: “There hasn’t been an easy match in Ligue 1 since the start of the season”.
Was there this sort of decompression after Manchester City (4-2) ?
“Yes, after Wednesday’s big game against City, it’s never easy to follow that up. After that, Reims did a good job. Defensively, they made life difficult for us, closing down the midfield really well. We were less inspired on the flanks to make the difference. But that’s normal, because in Ligue 1 there hasn’t been an easy game since the start of the season. Now we need to recover well because on Wednesday we have another final.”
On an individual level, how are you feeling ?
“It’s not easy when you come back from a long injury. But the most important thing is to build on it little by little and get back to my best level. Little by little, I’m going to try to get back to my best. The sensations come back as the games go on.”
Did you decide not to play 90 minutes at the moment ?
“It’s up to the staff. Personally, I feel very well. I can play 90 minutes at a time, but if it’s every three days I’m still not ready.”
