This Friday evening, Paris Saint-Germain won 3-0 against Toulouse on Matchday 12 of Ligue 1 2024-2025 at the Parc des Princes. Here are our top and bottom stories.
Tops –
A fairly quiet victory
Despite DAZN’s attempts throughout the debrief to rewrite history, PSG deserved their victory. Nothing was easy, and it was even an average match for the Parisian club. And yet, there wasn’t really much to choose between the two teams.
The last goals came late, and that’s what skews the analysis. Nevertheless, PSG defended well and managed to score, leaving the Parc des Princes with an important 3-0 victory after the international break and ahead of a vital Champions League match.
Zaïre-Emery back in form
He was the leader of the midfield and played a very good game. Hard-hitting and less shy than usual, he performed well and is slowly coming into his own. It’s important with the deadlines coming up.
Neves
Goalscorer, omnipresent, technically astute, attacking, the Portuguese delivered another very clean performance in this match. He showed that he has what it takes to play for a big club like PSG. The Champions League should enable him to become an even bigger part of this team.
Flops –
Gifted in the shadow of a doubt
We’re not going to draw any conclusions, but it’s clear that he once again failed to live up to expectations. He didn’t offer anything, he didn’t break through and he missed a lot of passes. A match that won’t go his way. He’s going to have to put himself in the shoes of a PSG player and stop thinking about what he’s doing. We want more spontaneity.
Asensio and Barcola
Two players, doubts and a feeling of disappointment. That sums up their match. Asensio never benefited from Ramons’ absence, while Barcola may have rekindled the idea of competition on his side.
You can’t have three players missing their matches like that. In Ligue 1, that’s fine, but it’s in the Champions League that there will be more doubts. They have to do much better, it’s urgent.
