A few days ago, Le Parisien reported that Paris Saint-Germain and their coach Luis Enrique have no intention of signing a backup for Achraf Hakimi (26-year-old right-back) this summer. However, RMC Sport offered a slightly different version on Thursday:

“Luis Enrique would like to find him one, but it’s not easy. At the moment, there is no player on the market who meets the sporting director’s requirements and is willing to come as a substitute for the Moroccan international.

In these conditions, the PSG coach prefers to rely on João Neves and Warren Zaïre-Emery to fill in on the right flank, rather than bringing in a player by default.”

The storyline is slightly different, but the outcome is quite similar. It gives the impression of a tug-of-war over influence in a PSG transfer window where certainties are scarce.
It’s worth noting that trying to limit PSG players to fixed positions clashes with Luis Enrique’s fluid tactical approach.

It’s clear that Paris is looking to strengthen, but it’s not easy after such a successful season. And if new players do arrive, it will be for true reinforcements, not just to fill numbers. Most likely, the club will focus on giving the coach more tactical options — though we know he’s more than capable of surprising us.
