This is the continuation of the saga — a summary of the latest news about Paris Saint-Germain’s transfer window. This round-up covers the past 24 hours (published in the early evening) to review what is happening, what’s not, what’s progressing, and what’s surprising. Today’s topics are Lucas Chevalier, Ilya Zabarnyi, and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Official:
Lucas Chevalier to PSG!
The 23-year-old France international goalkeeper officially signed this Saturday evening from Lille on a 5-year deal. The transfer is estimated by the media at €55 million including bonuses (€40 million fixed).
Opinion on the transfer:
It’s a bit of a surprise this summer, as many thought Gianluigi Donnarumma (26) would extend his contract and remain PSG’s undisputed number one. But negotiations have stalled, and the French keeper is on a very promising upward trajectory. His playing style — more comfortable with the ball at his feet and coming off his line — likely suits coach Luis Enrique better. Not to mention, he posted better save statistics last season.
It’s a significant outlay, but not a random one. Chevalier is also expected to earn a much lower salary than Donnarumma, for whom PSG now needs to find an exit route, as cohabitation could be tense.
Transfers likely to be completed soon:
Ilya Zabarnyi is almost a PSG player!
After very (very) long negotiations with Bournemouth, Paris has finally reached a full agreement for the 22-year-old Ukrainian defender, according to numerous media outlets. An official confirmation is still pending, as well as the scheduling of a medical to determine when the signing will take place. But there’s virtually no doubt anymore — it should happen in the coming days.
Possible transfers:
Gianluigi Donnarumma targeted by Europe’s top clubs.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper, whose contract extension talks (his deal runs until 2026) appear stalled, could well leave following Chevalier’s arrival, even though some outlets have mentioned possible coexistence. Most reports have highlighted interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Inter Milan. In recent hours, Manchester City has also been mentioned.
Transfer probability: 8/10.
Seeing Donnarumma and Chevalier spend the season together seems unlikely, though not impossible. A departure is expected, but it’s hard to say to which club.
Rumored targets:
No new updates in this regard.
