Lucas Chevalier, the 23-year-old goalkeeper for Lille (under contract until 2027) and the French national team, is rumored to be close to signing with Paris Saint-Germain in this transfer window to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma (26, under contract until 2026 with an extension blocked). L’Equipe provided an update on Tuesday and denied the idea of competition at PSG put forward by RMC Sport last night.
“The management has been working on this for nearly two years.”
“Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future should become clearer in the coming days, with several meetings that look like last-chance rendezvous. But PSG’s acceleration in recruiting Lucas Chevalier (23, Lille) suggests that everything may already be decided.
The capital club will not be fielding two number 1s this season, as it has done in the past. The management has been working on the case involving the LOSC player for nearly two years.”
Please note that this is a new rumor and not a concrete answer. So it’s not certain either. That’s how it is during the transfer window: there are many media claims and very few concrete developments. When PSG is involved, everyone wants to get involved and everyone tries to contribute their two cents in the hope of getting it right.
There is probably a solid basis for PSG’s interest in Chevalier, while Donnarumma’s contract extension is not progressing in concrete terms. For the rest, we remain cautious. A renewal for the Italian in Paris is still possible. Otherwise, the Lille player is indeed a good option that makes sense. The competition, much less so.
It’s difficult to do without upsetting the goalkeepers, and PSG has already experienced several failures. Also, Chevalier may be much less enthusiastic about the idea of losing playing time. Be careful, surprises happen every year. Let’s wait for certainties.
