Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique answered a few questions from PSG TV on the sidelines of the press conference held this Wednesday during Media Day ahead of the Champions League final against Arsenal on Saturday, May 30 (kick-off at 6 p.m., CET).
Luis Enrique: “A lot of training to prepare the details for the final.”
How are you? And how are the players?
I don’t know yet (laughs). There’s no information, we have to be quiet, very discreet. We’re doing well, everyone is ready. They’re arriving in different ways. It will be a busy week, some players resting because it’s important to disconnect, but also a lot of training to prepare the details for the final. We like it, we’re not used to it. There’s also the sun in Paris, the sun in Budapest, it’s beautiful!
Luis Enrique: “A moment to enjoy with teammates.”
How do you find the right balance between rest and training?
Normally, when the final part of the season arrives, the players are more mentally tired than physically. This season has been unusual. What we want is for the players to enjoy themselves when they arrive at the Campus. A time to enjoy time with teammates, to work out in the gym, the pool, on the pitch, with pleasure. That’s an important part. The players also need days off to do what they want. That’s important, especially in this final week.
Luis Enrique: “We know the way. There will be pressure, knowing how to manage it will be key.”
The pressure to manage?
It’s a little different this year; there was more of it last year. There was the excitement, which was very difficult to manage. This year, there are things that are the same. But also different. We know the way. There will be pressure, knowing how to manage it will be key. As always in the final. And I think we’re better prepared than last season.
