Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain, spoke to Canal+ following PSG’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa this Wednesday at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg in the 2026 UEFA Super Cup.
Al-Khelaïfi: “They were dead on their feet, yet they fought for the trophy.”
PSG is a winning machine; do you realize what your club has achieved over the past two years?
It’s wonderful to start the season with a trophy and with confidence. The mentality is always to win. Several players returned just a few days ago and are ready to play. It’s magnificent. We have a real team now; everyone plays together. They were dead on their feet, yet they fought for the trophy.
Is the trio of Luis Campos, Enrique, and yourself the source of PSG’s strength?
We have the best team in the world, the best coach, the best sporting advisor, the best players, and the best fans. We want to keep going; football isn’t easy—it’s a day-by-day process.
Al-Khelaïfi: “We’ll see how the negotiations go.”
Barcola didn’t come on; what does his future hold?
We work calmly. We don’t talk too much; we just get things done. Every player is important.
Is he leaving?
I don’t want to say anything today; I’m talking about the players.
Can’t Liverpool meet the asking price?
We’ll see how the negotiations go.
Is the Torres deal done?
You in the media talk a lot, but we don’t.
