Désiré Doué, the 21-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder/forward, spoke to Canal+ following PSG’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa this Wednesday at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg during the 2026 UEFA Super Cup.
Doué: “Always wanting to win.”
What makes you invincible?
It’s the mindset we have—always wanting to win. Being as competitive as possible; we showed that again tonight. We were clinical in front of goal. We were up against a good Aston Villa side, but we’re very happy. We know coming back from the holidays isn’t easy, but we got the job done tonight.
Doué: “It’s exceptional; we have to keep this up.”
You weren’t necessarily physically ready, but your strength lies in the collective, right?
Yes, exactly. We’re used to going towards the ball—that’s what we tried to do. Some players only returned to training two days ago. I came back last Monday, but it’s exceptional; we have to keep this up. A great season is getting underway. It’s a truly magnificent trophy. Now, we have to go after the Trophée des Champions.
Doué: “The goal this season is, above all, to win everything.”
Regarding the goal—did you think you were offside?
I didn’t look behind me; I made the run, Ousmane played the ball to me, and I focused on the play. The referee blew the whistle, and it was a magnificent goal.
The goal is the third star—is that on your minds?
Of course we’re thinking about it. The goal this season is, above all, to win everything.
