On Wednesday at the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain won their opening match of the 2025–2026 Champions League group stage against Atalanta with a 4–0 scoreline. After the match, as we now do every time, we asked our readers to vote for PSG’s best player of the night. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (24-year-old forward) came out on top.
It’s a great result for the Georgian, whose early-season performances had raised some concerns. Was he already drifting off the radar? Not at all — he simply needed time, and no player can be brilliant every week. With a complete performance and a superb goal, he showed he belongs at the highest level.
He finished ahead of Nuno Mendes (23-year-old left-back), who was widely praised after the match — and rightly so, as he was outstanding. Filling out the podium was more difficult, but Marquinhos (31-year-old centre-back and captain), solid at the back and also a goalscorer, was a strong candidate. The midfielders could have featured too, but they operated as such a cohesive unit that it was hard to single one out.
Thank you all for your votes. As a reminder, the podium from each match feeds into the vote for Player of the Month.
