This Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain (2nd) will face Auxerre (10th) at the Parc des Princes for matchday 6 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season (kick-off at 9:05 PM, CET). On Wednesday, Le Parisien provided an update on the injuries of João Neves (20-year-old midfielder), Bradley Barcola (23-year-old forward) and Désiré Doué (20-year-old midfielder/forward). The first two could play this match, while the third could be back against FC Barcelona on Wednesday (matchday 2 of the Champions League). As a reminder, Ousmane Dembélé (28-year-old forward) will not return before the international break at the beginning of October.
“A match that João Neves hopes to play. Injured in the hamstring against Atalanta Bergamo (4-0), the Portuguese midfielder has recovered well. He will undergo a test on Thursday and Friday to determine if he can at least play a few minutes this weekend, to get some match rhythm before facing Barcelona in four days.”
“The same goes for Bradley Barcola, who felt some minor muscle discomfort during training at the end of the week. Absent from the squad in Marseille, the French winger must first assess his condition before making a final decision on his participation against Auxerre. Like Neves, he is expected to be available for the trip to Barcelona.”
“Désiré Doué has resumed running exercises on a specialized machine and is progressing well in his recovery. There is a slim chance of seeing him on the bench against Barcelona.”
This is very good news, as PSG has a series of important matches coming up and points to gain. Several key players have been sidelined, and their returns are expected. This should happen very quickly for Neves and Barcola. Which is no surprise, but of course, it’s preferable. We’re pleased to see that there won’t be any further setbacks, and we hope that Doué will also be back soon. However, we shouldn’t rush things. His presence against Barcelona would likely only be for a few minutes at best. Of course, we hope that there won’t be any more injuries before then. It would be great to see the squad get back to full strength, especially in the attacking positions, where most of the injuries have occurred.
