Bradley Barcola, the 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker, stopped in the mixed zone after PSG’s 5-2 victory over Chelsea this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of the 2025-2026 Champions League Round of 16 (second leg on March 17).
Barcola: “It’s definitely a match to remember.”
A memorable victory?
“It’s definitely one of our benchmark matches, I think. We really played as a team from start to finish, even the substitutes really helped at the end of the match. It’s really good to play like that. I think we’re all enjoying ourselves, we have to keep it up.”
A turning point for the future?
“I think it’s definitely a match to remember. From start to finish, we stayed together, we stayed united. Even when we conceded goals. So it’s definitely a match to remember.”
Individual errors, the area for improvement for the return leg?
Yes, I think that’s something we need to work on. Whether it’s in Ligue 1 or the Champions League, we make small mistakes that cost us dearly. Today, we had that luck, we managed to score afterward, but I think it’s something we need to work on.
Barcola: “We all enjoyed ourselves.”
Five goals in the Champions League, especially against Chelsea who won the Club World Cup against you, is that a victory that brings relief?
It’s a really good victory. It’s been a long time since we scored so many goals in the Champions League. It’s definitely a victory to cherish.
You scored again just over a year after your last goal in the competition?
I’m very happy. I’ve been working for a long time to score in the Champions League. So I’m really happy tonight.
There were some doubts, but is the team in good physical shape?
Yes, the team is in good physical shape. We showed we’re here, we pressed hard throughout the match. Playing like that, we all enjoyed ourselves. It’s great.
