Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea faced off this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of their 2025-2026 Champions League Round of 16 tie (return leg on March 17). The match ended in a 5-2 victory for PSG. After the game, Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior spoke to TNT Sports.
Rosenior: “It makes everything very difficult, but not impossible.”
After 70 minutes, the score was 2-2. What happened next?
We made a mistake on the third goal and we reacted poorly to the disappointment. We were close, then there was Kvaratskhelia’s incredible goal. These things happen at this level, even though we weren’t far from 3-3. But with the fifth goal, we lost our composure and concentration. It makes everything very difficult, but not impossible.
Did the risks hurt?
Risks are part of the game; we take them to play a certain way. They allowed us to have some good moments, to play well, to create chances. They didn’t have many chances, but they scored 5 goals. That’s hard to swallow. Now we need to recover and be ready for Newcastle, then PSG.
Rosenior: “Don’t forget the good things for 70 minutes because of 15-20 minutes of madness.”
Did Jorgensen lose confidence?
That’s my responsibility. We lose confidence with mistakes, that’s normal. But we have a great group. Mistakes happen, but they shouldn’t happen twice. We were punished by a very good team.
Is it possible to qualify in the second leg?
You’ve seen it happen before. We’re not giving up. We need to have an excellent plan to come back. There is disappointment, but we must not forget the good things for 70 minutes because of 15-20 minutes of madness.
