Paris Saint-Germain defeated Lille 3-0 this Friday at the Parc des Princes in Matchday 18 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. After the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference.
Luis Enrique: “I expect more from Ousmane.”
What did you think of Ousmane Dembélé’s second goal?
“It’s a goal that few players can score. It’s a PlayStation goal. When you press all the buttons and do everything at once, that’s what you get. I expect more from Ousmane, even though we all love his goals. But we especially appreciate his ability to free up the defensive aspect for the team.”
Luis Enrique: “Lille didn’t deserve this scoreline.”
The whole team needs to improve in this area. Lille overcame our pressure very easily. We were lucky because we scored three goals. But it’s incredible considering we didn’t score any in our last match (a 1-0 defeat against Paris FC in the Round of 32 of the Coupe de France). Lille didn’t deserve that scoreline, but I’m very happy with the result.
Have the doubts after the Coupe de France elimination been erased?
“The second half was different. We pressed very well. That made it difficult for the opposition. But our first half was very dangerous. We need to improve that. The players know it. To win important trophies, we need to improve our defensive level. That’s what we need to change.”
Luis Enrique: “It’s important to stay focused throughout the entire match.”
What did you change at halftime?
“We changed our pressing style. It’s more focused, less time given to the opposition. It’s important to stay focused throughout the entire match. We can’t let our guard down.” Otherwise we’ll have problems, just like in the first half.”
Are opponents analyzing PSG better than before?
“You have to be focused and on the ball from the very first minutes. If you relax, if you think there’s plenty of time to win, no! You have to be at 100% from the first minute. If we don’t press effectively, we’ll have problems.”
