On Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain played their Champions League quarter-final first leg against Liverpool and won 2-0. Following the match, Luis Enrique, the club’s coach, spoke to PSG TV about his players’ performance.

Enrique: “I also think we lived up to the expectations of our fans.”

“I think we deserved this result. It was a very difficult, very close match, especially in the first half. In the second half, we created a lot of chances. It’s a shame because I think we could have scored another goal, but that’s football and you have to accept it.

Today, I think the atmosphere in the stadium was incredible. I also think we lived up to the expectations of our fans, and that’s very difficult.” It’s time to enjoy ourselves, recover, rest, and think about the next match, in Liverpool.

Enrique: “Anfield is a very difficult stadium.”

“I saw this connection between the fans and the team from the very first days when I arrived. And right now, that connection is stronger than ever. We’re going to Liverpool with, as always, the desire to win the match. There will be suffering because Anfield is a very difficult stadium, but with this team, we can try to find the best way to play, and that means attacking all the time.”

A good thing done for PSG, who won the first leg of this two-legged tie without conceding a goal. Even though they were considered the favorites, the Parisian club had to deliver and be at 100%. A Champions League match is never won in advance, regardless of current trends or statistics.

With this first leg victory secured, PSG will have to travel to Anfield, and once again, the hardest part is yet to come. Anything is possible away from home, especially in this stadium and its atmosphere, which can truly inspire a team. The Reds have nothing left to lose and will try everything to turn the tide and reach the semi-finals.
