Paris Saint-Germain drew 2-2 against Lorient this Saturday at the Parc des Princes in Matchday 32 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. After the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference.
Luis Enrique: “We deserved to win the match.”
What did you think of your players’ performance?
“First of all, I’d like to highlight Lorient’s performance and the way they play. They’re a difficult team to press, and it’s always positive for me as a coach to see courageous teams.
I’m happy with the performance of all my players, even if I always expect more, which is normal. But in terms of effort, we did the job well. We deserved to win the match. They scored two goals from two chances; we needed the three points, but we have to accept it. The league is still wide open.”
Is the preparation sufficient before the second leg of the semi-final?
“We only played two players who started on Tuesday night. We tried to control the game the way we wanted. We were aiming to win the match, but we missed that objective.”
Luis Enrique: “It was a Champions League atmosphere.”
Is this a difficult match to manage after Tuesday’s game?
“It’s very difficult, in terms of motivation, when you’ve played an important match in an incredible atmosphere, to then switch to the league. We’re used to this, and I try to demand much more from my players in every match, every training session. I also want to emphasize the atmosphere on Saturday at 5 p.m. It was a Champions League atmosphere. I told the players it was an incredible atmosphere. This result is a shame.”
A word on the performance of Renato Marin and Pierre Mounguengue?
“It’s not easy when you play at the Parc des Princes for the first time in your career!” It’s a positive atmosphere, but it’s not easy to manage. We have three top-level goalkeepers, and Renato is ready. He played well; he was unlucky with the two goals we conceded. We considered resting Doué and giving Pierre the opportunity to play his first minutes. He played well, as did the rest of the team.
Arteta says that PSG and Bayern Munich have an advantage because of their respective leagues. Do you agree?
“That’s an opinion. Everyone has an opinion. I have nothing to say. There are fewer matches in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, which is positive in terms of seeing a higher level of physicality and technical skill. You have to hold a lot of press conferences to sell the matches. That’s how business works. Everyone has their own opinion.”
