Luis Enrique, coach of Paris Saint-Germain (2nd), held a press conference this Saturday ahead of tomorrow’s match against Olympique Lyonnais (1st) at the Parc des Princes (kick-off at 8:45 PM, CET), as part of the 8th round of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. On the sidelines of the event, the Spaniard also spoke to PSG TV.
Luis Enrique: “It’s important for us to be attacking, to be courageous.”
It’s been a long week, but what a match against Barcelona! What stood out to you the most?
“It’s been a very intense week for everyone at Paris—especially when playing Champions League matches. If I had to sum it up, the key was the second part of the match, after we conceded the second goal. It was our mentality at that moment—continuing to look for ways to attack. It’s important for us to be attacking, to be courageous.”
Lyon is a direct rival; how are you approaching this match?
“Last year, they won the match in Paris. It’s the same team, the same coach. They are a very courageous side. It will be a difficult game, but I hope the motivation that comes from playing against them will help us.”
This match will be dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. Why is it important to raise awareness among supporters on occasions like this?
“I think the club—and everyone around the club—understands that this is very important. Sport is a way to demonstrate our capacity to help those in need. For us, it’s truly significant. Sport is wonderful; there is always an opportunity to help and do something for others.”
