This Sunday, as part of Matchday 30 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain (1st) will face Olympique Lyonnais (5th) at the Parc des Princes (kick-off at 8:45 PM, CET). The referee for the match has been chosen: Jérôme Brisard (40 years old). He has some experience in Ligue 1, as this is his first season and he has officiated 16 matches.

The referee will be assisted by Alexis Auger and Steven Torregreossa. The fourth official will be Abdelatif Kherradji. Video assistance will be provided by Mathieu Vernice and Hamid Guenaoui.

Yellow Cards –

With Mr. Brisard as referee, we can expect yellow cards to be issued “as usual” during the match. Indeed, while the national average per match is 3.53 (standard deviation of 0.39), Sunday’s referee has averaged 3.53 yellow cards per match throughout his Ligue 1 career (Transfermarkt figures). This is exactly the average; let’s hope it reflects a balance between player protection and dialogue.

Direct Red Cards –

The referee on Sunday was stricter when it came to direct red cards. Brisard has an average of 0.23 dismissals per match in his career, while the national average is 0.17 (standard deviation of 0.07). Therefore, there’s no question of letting bad behavior go unpunished, and sanctions may well be forthcoming.

Second Yellow Cards –

Jérôme Brisard doesn’t typically send off a player after their first yellow card in a Ligue 1 match. The national average is 0.09 (standard deviation of 0.03). With an average number of yellow cards and “easy” cards, it’s understandable that this referee is more prone to issuing straight red cards.

Penalties –

Finally, regarding penalties, the referee on Sunday was above average, awarding 0.37 per match, while the Ligue 1 average is 0.34 (standard deviation of 0.08).
