This Thursday at 7 p.m. CET, Paris Saint-Germain faces Olympique de Marseille at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait for the 2025 Trophée des Champions. In a press conference, the Marseille defender and captain outlined how his team should approach this Classico final.
Balerdi: “We can beat anyone. We have to show it.”
“We have to learn from the Nantes match. We have to bring the trophy back for our fans, it’s very important. The first leg against Paris has given us a lot of motivation. We know that when we play well, with the right intentions, we can beat anyone. We have to show it. We have to change the attitude we had against Nantes and approach this match in the best possible way.”
A risky attacking formation against PSG?
“Even if Aguerd isn’t there, Medina is already ready to play. With four, with five… we can do it.” It depends on us. We’re behind the coach and we’ll follow his decision. We’re 100% behind him. If he makes a decision, it’s because he thinks we can win with it.
Balerdi: “We want to bring him back home to Marseille.”
The shortest path to a title?
Yes, clearly, it’s the shortest path, even if it’s not the easiest. We talk a lot about this trophy. “We want to bring it back home to Marseille.”
As is often the case, Balerdi is displaying maximum confidence and determination. All the better, we like this approach to a match against PSG. We want a challenge, a team that believes in its chances and gives its all to aim for victory. Especially since OM has what it takes. It promises to be an interesting match to watch.
Of course, we hope that the Parisians can show that the defeat in September was at least partly due to a lack of physical preparation and the absence of certain players. Paris, too, must approach this match with desire and confidence.
It’s a Classico, a special match that always means a great deal to the club and the fans. This is even more true with a title at stake. PSG must be hungry for trophies, with the added bonus of the possibility of extending OM’s drought (which has lasted since 2012).
