This Thursday, during the 2025 Champions Trophy, Paris Saint-Germain faced Olympique de Marseille at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait. After a match where the Rouge et Bleu conceded several chances, they could have regretted it with the 2-2 draw, ultimately won on penalties. Here are our player ratings for the Parisians.
Goalkeeper –
Lucas Chevalier (9) – It has to be said, he had his best half of his Parisian season. His first half was impeccable; he made several crucial saves, including a quality reflex stop. He showed more promise in the second half. It’s a shame he conceded the penalty in the 75th minute; he hesitated too long before coming out and ultimately made a decision too late. His penalty shootout, with two saves, was superb.
Defenders –
Warren Zaïre-Emery (6.5) – A solid first half, but a little timid. Very solid, he nevertheless showed his stature; physically, he’s intimidating. Substituted in the 89th minute by Gonçalo Ramos.
Marquinhos (6) – He did his job in the first half, but Paris were under a lot of pressure from corners, so it was also up to him to reorganize things a bit at that point. More focused in the second half, he controlled the game better.
Willian Pacho (5) – Solid, he won his duels well in the first half. A little hesitant in the box on opposition corners. Another solid performance from him. It’s a shame he scored that own goal at the end of the match.
Nuno Mendes (7) – He’s had a great start to the year, and his first half confirms it. He’s got fire in his legs and is improving defensively.
Midfielders –
Joao Neves (5.5) – A fairly average first half. More prominent in the second half, he raised his game, particularly technically.
Vitinha (6.5) – Not his best start to the match, but he provided an assist, and in this kind of game, that counts for a lot. Even in a less polished performance, he remains a pillar of this team.
Fabian Ruiz (5) – Fairly average, although very mobile. It’s a shame he launched a few long balls instead of slowing down the game. He was somewhat subdued in an otherwise high-intensity match. Substituted in the 89th minute by Senny Mayulu.
Forwards –
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (6,5) – The best attacking player on the pitch, he defended well and managed to get the better of his direct opponents on several occasions. He could perhaps have been a bit more selfless in certain situations. Substituted in the 72nd minute by Bradley Barcola.
Ousmane Dembélé (6) – Apart from the goal, he was largely anonymous on the ball in the first half. He did, however, maintain his pressing. He’s barely making a difference in open play.
Désiré Doué (6) – A very quiet start to the match, far from his usual standard. He still displayed some moments of brilliance, but lacked a bit of luck, especially in the second half.
Coach –
Luis Enrique (6) – This PSG side is less in control than last season, that much is clear. There’s a solid foundation, of course, but less room for error. He needs to find solutions in a difficult season hampered by the lack of preparation. Another title for him.
