Paris Saint-Germain lost 0-1 to Paris FC this Monday at the Parc des Princes in the Round of 32 of the 2025-2026 Coupe de France. After the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique (54 years old) spoke at a press conference.
Enrique: “I wish PFC all the best.”
How do you explain tonight’s defeat?
“I think it’s very easy to define this match. It was a very complicated match, but we played very well. We did the job well, we dominated the match. In football, you have to score goals, they scored one, we didn’t.
That’s football. I’m happy with the team and the individual performances. It’s unfair, but we have to accept it. I wish PFC all the best, but I’m happy with what I saw.”
Is this defeat a lesson to be learned for the rest of the season?
“If you look at the result, maybe. During the match, we were far superior, but you have to know how to lose. And in this case, it’s clearly such a strange result. It’s a competition we love, and it wasn’t our objective to be eliminated. We have to accept it. But if I have to lose a match, I’d like to lose matches like this.”
Enrique: “When you look at the result, it’s the goals that count.”
Is this a setback in your season?
“What I saw tonight is what I want to see from my players. I’m sure that tomorrow when I watch the match, that feeling will be even stronger. I’m very happy with the players and the fans.”
Do you think your players gave their all on the pitch?
“It’s difficult to do better than today because we dominated, we did everything in the first and second halves. You just have to score goals. That’s football. When you look at the result, it’s the goals that count. The performance was of a very high level.”
