Paris Saint-Germain defeated Paris FC 2-1 this Sunday at the Parc des Princes in Matchday 17 of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. After the match, PSG coach Luis Enrique spoke at a press conference.
Enrique: “The result is the most important thing for us.”
What is your assessment of the match?
“The assessment is clear: it was a difficult match, as expected. We had a good first half with many chances. We only scored one goal. In the second half, there were more problems and we made mistakes. The result is the most important thing for us. Starting 2026 with a win is essential.”
Enrique: “It’s important to manage your playing time.”
Is the return of key players important for confidence?
“It’s vital, important, to have the players back. Then, we need to regain our technical and physical form. Over the next few weeks, I hope to have everyone back.”
Are you happy to see Ousmane Dembélé back?
“That’s what we expect. It was Ousmane’s best match this season. He’s back to his best. It’s important to manage his playing time. We’re playing for our first title on Thursday. That’s why he didn’t play the full 90 minutes.”
Enrique: “We weren’t pressing well.”
Was there a slight relaxation in the second half?
“I don’t know. I need to review the match. We weren’t pressing well. We had less control of the game. I’m very demanding of my players.”
What did you feel about this first derby since 1978?
“It was special. It was also the first match of this year.” I hope to play in even more derbies in the future. We love having PFC in Ligue 1.
