Warren Zaïre-Emery, 19-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, spoke to Ligue 1+ after the 3-3 draw against Strasbourg this Friday at the Parc des Princes as part of Matchday 8 of Ligue 1 2025-2026. The youngster reflected on his personal performance, the competition in Ligue 1, and his team’s reaction to the match.
Zaïre-Emery: “I hope it continues like this.”
“How are things going personally?
I feel good, as I said. I went to the U21s to gain that confidence, touch the ball, and play with it going forward. Personally, I think today wasn’t a bad performance for me. I hope it continues like this.”
Zaïre-Emery: “It shows the strength of our team.”
Tougher competition this season?
I don’t think it will be tougher than last season. We take every match the same way. They’re all difficult matches. Coming back from the break and playing against Strasbourg, a young team that puts a lot of intensity into their duels, wasn’t easy. We fell behind, but we were able to come back; that shows the strength of our team.
What changed in the second half?
We reacted well. The coach (Luis Enrique) spoke at halftime, he said we had to do better. We came back with different intentions in the second half, and the changes were good. If we can’t win, we have to learn not to lose. That prepares us well for the Champions League match (Tuesday at Leverkusen).
Zaire-Emery remains humble and knows that top-level football always requires confirmation, to do even better than last night. But he had a good match, which is in line with the trend he’s been on in recent weeks. The PSG midfielder is regaining his confidence and making an impact in his duels. This is very encouraging, and we can only hope he continues in this direction.
This will help PSG achieve its goals, starting with topping Ligue 1. That could change this weekend, with Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille able to move up in front if they win against Nice and Le Havre. Nothing to worry about; there are still games to play. But we mustn’t hang around. Having players back from the injury crunch will also be an asset, hopefully avoiding another wave of injuries.
Paris must now turn its attention to the Champions League, which returns this Tuesday with a trip to face Bayer Leverkusen. We know PSG will have a strong squad, ideally with a few returning players. It will be easier to continue. Even though we already have some great resources in this squad, in recent weeks like last night, to come back from the game. The Parisians never give up and have confidence in their game, essential points to have another great season.
