Paris Saint-Germain defeated Tottenham 5–3 this Wednesday at the Parc des Princes as part of the 5th matchday of the 2025–2026 Champions League group stage. After the win, PSG midfielder Vitinha (25) was invited by TNT Sports to speak about Marquinhos’ 500th appearance for the club (the 31-year-old defender and captain).
“A player like Marquinhos, who has won everything at the club and has the most appearances, he’s a legend. It’s a joy to play with him over these years. All the players, the staff and the directors, we are happy to have him in the team and as our captain. I congratulate him once again for his journey. He is a PSG legend, maybe even a football legend.”
Even if some have made him a scapegoat at times, Marquinhos is generally respected and admired in the football world. Players know how hard it is to establish yourself over the long term and win titles. The Brazilian, although he has faced difficult moments in Paris, has never given up or let himself be discouraged.
As PSG captain, he has always shown the same determination and impeccable professionalism. His teammates trust him and value his qualities — and that is no coincidence. One can only hope to see Marquinhos play many more matches for PSG and continue to write his name even deeper into the club’s history.
