This Saturday, November 7, Paris Saint-Germain (1st) will face Troyes (16th) at the Parc des Princes (kick-off at 9:05 PM, CET) as part of the 10th matchday of the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. As is the case before every match, here is a look at the Parisians’ opponents.
Troyes’ situation –
A club accustomed to either competing for the top spots in Ligue 2 or fighting to avoid relegation from Ligue 1, ESTAC Troyes narrowly avoided a dire situation at the end of the 2023-2024 period. Following a disastrous season, the team was set to be relegated to the National (third tier), but they were saved by the administrative relegation of Girondins de Bordeaux.
The start of the 2024-2025 campaign was not much better, leading to the arrival of coach Stéphane Dumont, who replaced David Guion. Troyes subsequently climbed the table to finish in 10th place. Last year, things finally clicked, and ESTAC went on to win the Ligue 2 title, securing promotion in the process.
Their start to life back in Ligue 1 has been neither particularly alarming nor especially encouraging. Sitting in 16th place, Troyes is in need of points and knows that a collective, unified effort will be required to compete.

Troyes’ style of play:
Troyes are not afraid to play, though not necessarily with the aim of dominating possession. Their focus is on applying intensity to win the ball back high up the pitch, then launching attacks as quickly as possible—never hesitating to shoot or deliver crosses. Their major issue, however, is a glaring lack of efficiency. They will absolutely need to address this if they hope to stand a chance against PSG, or to survive throughout the season. In the meantime, Paris must remain wary of these rapid transitions to avoid being caught off guard. Troyes may well adopt a more defensive approach for this match.
