This Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain travelled to face Stade Rennais in Ligue 1’s 25th matchday (1-4 video highlights Rennes/PSG). Speaking to PSG TV, Warren Zaïre-Emery, the 19-year-old midfielder and captain of the day, spoke of his side’s success.

“It’s an important win. We’re coming off a Champions League game. These are never easy matches at 5pm, we have another one in the course of next week against Liverpool again. And it’s a good win to build our confidence and prepare for the week.
When you’re at Paris-Saint-Germain, you have to be ready for every game and try to win every one. We’re on a good unbeaten run. We need to continue on this path and I think it’s the right one for the team.

It’s a great feeling, a great source of pride. I’m only 19 and I’ve been playing with the first team for over 100 matches.
I’m enjoying playing with this team and I hope to continue doing so for a long time to come. I’m proud to wear this armband. I think of all the other players who have worn it before me, they’re all great players.”
At just 19 years of age, Warren Zaïre-Emery has already played more than 100 games for Paris and can already wear the captain’s armband. His trajectory has been phenomenal, and this accolade is well-deserved given his hard work and overall performance. Having just returned from injury, it is to be hoped that he will soon be back to his best to bring everything he can to the team.
On Saturday, he played a key role in the Parisians’ win over Rennes. On paper, this match could have been difficult to negotiate, as it falls between two Champions League matches. But PSG came out on top, and can now look forward to the return leg at Anfield on Tuesday with confidence and determination.
