Fabian Ruiz, the 29-year-old Paris Saint-Germain and Spain midfielder, spoke to his national team’s media ahead of their Nations League get-together in June. He looks back on last Saturday’s 5-0 Champions League final win over Inter Milan.
Ruiz ‘there was no better way to celebrate it’.
I think it’s been a memorable year. I’ve won a lot of titles with Paris and with the national team, and I’m very happy.
The celebrations after the final ?
We haven’t always slept a lot, but it’s been a few days of great celebrations. I’ve spent my life aiming for this Champions League, so there was no better way to celebrate.
How did the national team welcome you ?
We’re a family, and they were very happy for me. I’m very happy to have had their support for the final, the messages after the match. Winning the Champions League is difficult, but we’ve got this reward.
The perfect year ?
I can’t ask for more than that, there’s this unbeaten record with the national team to keep up. It’ll be tough against France, but I hope to keep that record going.
