Spain/France – The Bleus’ press ratings: rare positives

As part of the Nations League semi-finals, the French team was at the Mercedes-Benz Arena this Thursday to face Spain. A match that involved 6 Paris Saint-Germain players. 5 on the French side: Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé and Bradley Barcola. And 1 on the Spanish side: Fabian Ruiz. A match that ended with a spectacular and strange 5-4. Here are the ratings of the Blues in the press.

We don’t find the idea of a close score in these ratings, but that’s quite logical since changes were necessary for Les Bleus to hope to turn things around. Particularly with the excellent introduction of Ryan Cherki (1 goal, 1 assist, and 1 penultimate pass).

Otherwise, it was mostly 4-0 shortly after halftime. This was a little unfair in terms of the number of chances, but remains unworthy of such a team. The legs may have been heavy, but that goes for the players on both sides. Deschamps will have to find solutions. Even if it’s already interesting to have seen Les Bleus react in such a situation.

At least Doué did relatively well for his debut. Even if we can’t really celebrate. Let’s wait and see what happens next, with the 2026 World Cup in sight.
