For Matchday 6 of the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain travelled to face RB Salzburg (highlights Salzburg/PSG) in a match that was crucial to the Parisian club’s survival. After the match, Red and Blue coach Luis Enrique spoke to PSG TV about his players’ performance.

Enrique “I think we could have scored a few more goals”.

“To be honest, I don’t think this game was better at all than the ones against PSV or Atlético Madrid. But what we showed today was the character and personality needed to play away from home from the first minute and try to do our job in the best possible way.

It cost us, but in the end we’re satisfied because we were able to improve our goal difference and I think we could have scored a few more goals. Thank you to the fans who came out in force and cheered us on.”

A hugely important and reassuring victory for PSG, who finally managed to win a Champions League match. The statistics and dominance remained identical to previous matches, but at last the Parisians were able to capitalize on their chances and break the deadlock at a time when the fear of another disappointment was setting in.

It’s a richly deserved victory, which means PSG can now believe in their chances of qualifying for the final stages of the competition. Of course, there are still two matches to come in January, including a showdown with Manchester City at the Parc des Princes.

But with this new-found confidence, we’re hoping to finally see a club from the capital on top form. And in these conditions, given what they have shown since the start of the season, we can only believe in their chances of reaching the last 16.
