Matchday 7 of the 2026/27 Ligue 1 season featured a clash between Strasbourg and PSG this Saturday evening. Following a hard-fought victory in the Champions League, the Parisian squad was in need of rest. Consequently, Luis Enrique’s side took to the pitch at La Meinau to face RCSA with a heavily rotated lineup. The Rouge et Bleu ultimately secured a 1-3 win (see video highlights of RC Strasbourg vs. PSG), despite trailing for much of the match. Parisian defender Lucas Hernandez spoke to Ligue1Plus about this crucial victory in the title race:
Lucas Hernandez: “The most important thing is the three points.”
Congratulations—do you have a knack for making things look easy?
Thanks. It wasn’t an easy match, but the most important thing is the three points. Now, we need to recover for the big game on Tuesday.
What is your greatest strength? You always seem to find a way to come back.
I think our strength lies in our mental toughness. Even when we’re trailing, we know we have the quality—and the players—to fight back. It’s primarily a matter of mentality: knowing that at any moment, we can score a goal and get back into the game. It’s never easy playing in Strasbourg, and falling behind in the first half made it even tougher—but the substitutes came on and made the difference. Ultimately, we got the job done and secured the three points.
“It’s important to be at the top of the table.”
Even when down to nine men, everyone kept doing their job right until the end.
Yes, we are a team, and it’s true that, unfortunately, we couldn’t finish the match with 11 players on the pitch. But that’s alright—we’re a team, we fight for one another, and that third goal really helped us. We were able to finish the match well. Now, as I mentioned earlier, we have three days before the match against Barcelona, so we need to get some good rest. If there are any minor knocks, we’ll need to recover properly for Tuesday’s game.
Are you joint leaders?
Yes, of course—it’s important to be at the top of the table. We didn’t get off to the best start in Ligue 1 this year, but we’ve kept at it, the momentum is building, and it’s up to us to keep performing and reach the position we deserve.
