Gianluigi Donnarumma, Paris Saint-Germain’s 25-year-old goalkeeper, stopped by the mixed zone after the 1-4 victory over Stuttgart (video highlights Stuttgart/PSG) this Wednesday at the Mercedens-Benz Arena as part of matchday 8 of the league phase of the Champions League 2024-2025. He spoke about this success, qualification for the play-offs with the possible draw (this Friday at 12pm) and his future as his contract runs out in June 2026.

Donnarumma: “He’s an incredible player”.

Dembélé’s hat-trick, something we’re not used to ?

He’s an incredible player. I hope he continues like this, thanks to him and the team. We’ve got a lot of confidence now. We’ve had a tough run, but I think PSG deserved to be here and we’re going to carry on like this.

PSG came back from the emotion against City to play a great match, is that proof that they’re improving ?

Yes, that’s for sure. Tonight, we played a very solid match and got off to a great start. That’s what you have to do in a tough game like that against Stuttgart, who are 4th in the Bundesliga. This team plays well, presses well. But our team played very well, with a lot of possession and pressure. I think we deserved to win, to win 4-1.

Donnarumma “I hope to stay here, to extend, because this is my home.”

A decisive save before the 0-2 ? Is it important to help the team like that in a Champions League match ?

Oh yes, I always have to be ready to help the team. Tonight, I made a great save. But the credit goes to the team, to PSG. We’ve got a lot of confidence and that’s important. I hope we can carry on like this, work hard and do a lot of good things.

What’s the status of your contract extension ? Do you want to stay with PSG ?

Yes, I hope to stay here and extend my contract, because this is my home. I feel very good here, and I hope to continue doing a great job here.

Donnarumma “ Monaco or Brest, it’s all the same ”

Brest or Monaco for the draw?

It doesn’t matter, we’ll keep playing like this and then we’ll see. Monaco or Brest, it’s all the same to us.
