At the end of Paris Saint-Germain’s matches at the end of the season in May, June, and July (with an omission for May, then an adjustment for this special season), as we always do now (based on the podiums of the player of the match election), we asked for votes for the “player of the month.” Achraf Hakimi (26-year-old right-back) came out on top.
As a reminder, the matches in May, June, and July were:
Strasbourg/PS (3-1), PSG/Arsenal (2-1), Montpellier/PSG (1-4), PSG/Auxerre (3-1), PSG/Reims (3-0), PSG/Inter Milan (5-0), PSG/Atlético Madrid (4-0), PSG/Botafogo (0-1), Seattle Sounders/PSG (0-2), PSG/Inter Miami (4-0), PSG/Bayern (2-0), PSG/Real Madrid (4-0), Chelsea/PSG (3-0).
A great victory for Hakimi, which comes as no surprise. As important as ever in the game, capable of sustained effort and often solid defensively, he has also been decisive in most of the big games.
While some continue to focus on Ousmane Dembélé (28-year-old forward) for the Ballon d’Or, the Moroccan international is nonetheless an essential and impressive player this season. Especially in recent weeks.
There have been other great performances, and the podium with Vitinha (25-year-old midfielder), Désiré Doué (20-year-old midfielder/forward) and Fabian Ruiz (28-year-old midfielder) is understandable. It is often difficult to choose just one player from a great team.
We thank you for your votes and would like to point out that the podium places for these “players of the month” will count towards the title of best player of the season, as players must have been on the podium at least once to be among the nominees.
